Altona Mr. A. Marcel Boire, 86, of Old State Road in Altona, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home with family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born on December 3, 1928 at Point au Roche, the son of the late Alexander and Amelia (Tetreault) Boire. Marcel graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1947 and was employed as an assembler at Harris Graphics in Champlain for many years and later for Lee Custom Homes until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Angels Church in Altona, a Eucharistic Minister, a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 6136 in Mooers , an E.M.S. Captain for the Chazy Fire Department for many years and also was a member of the Altona Fire Department. He loved woodworking and challenging repair projects. He was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce (LaFountain) Boire, whom he married on May 21, 1983,his children; Edward Boire of Champlain, Irene Boire of Elizabethtown, David Boire of Stafford, Va.,his siblings and their spouses; Gabriel Boire of Westborough, Ma., Arthur and Jeanne Boire of Point au Roche, Germaine Giles of Seffner, Fl., his grandson; Alexander Boire of Plattsburgh, 3 step children; Dwight LaFountain and companion Mona Forett of Beekmantown, Nancy and Bart Blow of East Longmeadow, Ma., Paul and Carolann LaFountain of Bayport, N.Y., his step grandchildren; Randall, John Paul, Katherine, Grace, Aaron, Kathleen and Victoria, two sisters in law; Rosemary Boire of Beekmantown and Theresa Lafountain of Plattsburgh , a brother in law; Donald Favreau of Chazy, many nieces and nephews, and his canine companion "Sophie". He was predeceased by his granddaughter Julia Boire, daughter in law Mary Boire, six brothers John, Louis, Leo, Arel, Roger, and Donald Boire, three sisters; Madeline Favreau, Loretta Favreau and Gloria Boire, five sisters in law; Evelyn, Eva, Theresa, Geneva and Marie, three brothers in law; Lawrence Favreau, Jack Giles and Alfred Lafountain. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be offered to Dravet Syndrome Foundation, Hospice of the North Country, Altona Fire Department , the Holy Angels Building Fund or for Masses. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Hausrath and his staff for the wonderful care given to Marcel.
