Adeline E Harrigan

June 21, 1950 — December 30, 2021

Adeline Elizabeth Harrigan, 71, of Chateaugay, passed away on December 30, 2021 at the UVM Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born June 21, 1950, the daughter of Adeline “Scottie” Harrigan who was not only her mother but her best friend. James Harrigan was her father.
Adeline graduated from Division Avenue High School in Levittown, New York. She went on to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ayerst-Wyeth Laboratories in Rouses Point, Florida Power in St. Petersburg, FL, and finally the Sheriff’s Department in Pinellas County, FL.
While Adeline enjoyed many hobbies there was nothing more important to Adeline than being with her dearly loved family and friends, who became family. She was an amazing and fiercely loyal mother, daughter, sister, fiancee, and friend. She had a twinkle in her eye and an abundance of love in her heart. Her entire life was a life of service to others. If a friend or family member needed anything, she was ready to help in a moment’s notice. Her final act of giving to others was her commitment to be an organ donor. She was a woman who was faith filled and steadfast Catholic, volunteering at St. Vincent dePaul in St. Petersburg for many years. A small example of her many volunteer activities included work on environmental issues by participating in “clean up” for many years, and tireless work for the American Legion.
What cannot be captured in a few lines summarizing Adeline’s life is her sense of love and joy, in equal measure. Adeline’s infectious and inspirational spirit brought light and love everywhere she went. The practical jokes she played on others, the jokes she told, and her smile and laughter were immeasurable.
Adeline is survived by her fiance Michael O’Connor and his large, loving family. Adeline and Mike truly are soulmates and their love story is one for the ages. They knew each other while attending elementary school in Chateaugay and after Adeline and the family moved to Long Island, Mike traveled from Chateaugay to Levittown to accompany Adeline to her high school prom. Although sparks of affection began in early school years and dating in high school; they went down different paths for decades; but, five years ago, they rekindled their romance. They were both so in love with each other and cherished traveling together and sharing many adventures over the last few years of her life.
Adeline is survived by her daughter Lisa (Narreau) Casey and grandsons Joshua and Jacob; her son Scott Narreau and granddaughters Evangeline and Emerson. Adeline leaves behind five siblings: Thomas, Lawrence, Kevin, Maureen, and Laura Harrigan (LaValley) and countless nieces and nephews.
The depth of the love her family and friends have for Adeline will be commiserate with their grief. A commitment by family and friends to emulate Adeline’s kindness and generosity will best honor her spirit.
Adeline was predeceased by her parents and her brother Kirk.
In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you would consider becoming an organ donor in Adeline’s memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
