Ambrose J Kipp

Plattsburgh Mr. Ambrose J. Kipp, 92, of Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 11, 1923 the son of the late Frank and Julia (Caron) Kipp. Ambrose served in the 9th Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Rescue Hose 5 since 1954 and served for 59 years and a member of St. Peter's Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 20, Carpenters Union Local 1042, and a founding member of Beaver Lodge Hunting Club. Ambrose participated in the Honor Flight in September of 2014. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at Loon Lake. He is survived by his sons and their spouses; Rodney and Carol Kipp, Gerard and Vicki Kipp, Bruce and Kathie Kipp, Ken Sr. and Sally Kipp, Kevin Kipp and companion Patty McNeil, Anthony Kipp, his daughters and their spouses;. Cathy Kipp and companion Rick Stein, Paula Yanis, Regina and Jim Braun, a daughter in law; Colleen Kipp, 28 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Ambrose was predeceased by his wife Catherine Kipp on November 2, 2012, whom he married on August 30, 1945. He was also predeceased by a son, John Kipp, two granddaughters; Heidi Kipp and Kelly Kipp-Fredenburg, a son in law Tom Yanis, and his parents. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. Members of the Clinton County Firemans Association will meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Church. A reception will follow in the Emmaus Room. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to the North Country Honor Flight or St. Peter's Church.
