Ann M. (Matroni) Witkiewicz , 80, of Plattsburgh , passed away comfortably on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born February 22,1943, in West Springfield Massachusetts. After graduating from Ellenburg High School Ann moved back to West Springfield where she met the love of her life, Bob. As a young family they settled down on Chazy Lake and raised their children on the Pumphouse Road. Ann's favorite place was Chazy Lake. She spent many hours at her lake lot with family and friends or enjoying the scenery and peace of the Lake and loons in solitude. Ann and her friends on Chazy Lake became lifelong family to each other. She was affectionately known by her grandkids and Chazy Lake family as Nonna. Ann was a true animal lover and horses held a special place in her heart. She treasured raising horses on her small family farm. She shared this love with her dear friends, Judy Lapoint and Patt Schaefer. Ann and Judy were co-leaders of The Lakeside Trail Stompers 4H Club and Ann and Patt were active members in the Adirondack Lakes Pony Club. Ann devoted her life to raising her family and helping others. She was a regular at weekend mass and could often be found during the week at a daily mass, prayer group, or at the bedside of a friend in need. Ann was always there for her beloved friends and family through trying times giving her love, support, and prayers Ann’s memory lives on through her husband of 59 years, Robert, and their children; Tracey Houle, Cyndi Woodward, and Robby and Theresa Witkiewicz as well her brother Michael Matroni. Many of Ann’s most cherished memories were spent raising her 9 grandchildren; Stephen Witkiewicz, Taylor Witkiewicz, Connor Witkiewicz, Madeline Witkiewicz, KJ Houle, Tagan Houle, Molly Houle, Amanda Cooley, Colby Woodward and her 5 great grandchildren; Tripp, Briggs, Axul, Lainey, and Nora. Ann is predeceased by her parents James R. Matroni and Eleanor C. (Tagan) Matroni and her brothers Raymond Matroni, Thomas Matroni and James Matroni. There will be no calling hours or services. A Mass at St. Joseph's church in Dannemora will be held at a future date, along with a celebration of life. These details will be put on facebook in the near future.
