Brenda Phyllis Foley peacefully passed away on May 17, 2026, while in palliative care at CVPH, Plattsburgh, NY. She was born to Morris and Ida
Mytelka on April 4th, 1940, at their home in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foley, and brother, Alan Mytelka.
She is survived by her two children: Charles Friedman and his wife Susan Garnetson Friedman, Keren Burdo-Foley and her husband Arnold Joseph Burdo, and grandchildren Ian Friedman, Jasper and Jade Burdo.
Brenda was an accomplished accountant with clients from New York, other states and countries. She was revered by numerous friends and family in northern NY. She earned her bachelor's degree at Queens College and her master's in accounting at C.W. Post. However, traveling was one of her greatest joys visiting every continent by car, train, plane and boat. She lived life to the fullest. Her favorite trips were with family to Alaska, Greenland, and a solo expedition to Antarctica. Additionally, Brenda loved playing Mah-Jongg and was a member of numerous local groups. Brenda dedicated her life to helping people and fighting for justice.
A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and relatives at her family's home (240 Dickson Point Road, Plattsburgh, NY) on Friday, May 29th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. She wished to be cremated and will be buried at the Foley Family Plot in the Irishtown Cemetery on Sunday, May 31st at 12:30 pm. A gathering will be held immediately afterwards at her previous home (135 John Brannon Road, Olmstedville, NY).
