Bruce N. Flax, 65, of Duquette Road, West Chazy, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday October 8, 2018 with family at his side. More than anything he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be forever missed by his wife of 44 years, Lois (Kirchofer) Flax; his son, Jeremy and wife, Kelly; his son, Scott and wife, Cassidy; his daughter Laura; his sister, Joanne; his grandson, Declan; and his three dogs. Born in Bay Shore, NY and raised in Patchogue, NY, the son of Eli and Arlene (Dorn) Flax, he was a lifelong resident of Burlington, CT. After graduating from Patchogue High School, he attended New England College and graduated from Central Connecticut State with a bachelor's degree in History. He met his wife, Lois, at New England College and they were married in 1974 in Harwinton, CT. After college Bruce worked for The Hartford Insurance Company in Hartford, CT. In 1992, he started Burlington Insurance, in Burlington, CT. He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. He was known for the time he took to sit and chat and his compassion for all that came to see him. He truly loved what he did each day and would say that it felt as though he was retired for 23 years. Bruce was an active Cub Scout pack leader and president of the Lions Club. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating and camping with his children when they were both young and grown. He had a love for the Adirondacks and all its beauty. Bruce will forever be remembered for his kind heart, playful nature, and sense of humor. He was a generous caring man, who touched the lives of all who knew him. A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at Parker's Family Maple Farm, on October 13 from two to four; 1043 Slosson Rd, West Chazy, NY, 12992. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adirondack Experience in his memory, P.O. Box 99, Blue Mountain Lake, NY 12812.
