Saranac Lake Ms. Chanda "Jayln" Renadette, 38, of Edgewood Rd., Saranac Lake, New York passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at her home following a long and courageous battle with Friedreich ataxia. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on July 7, 1977 the daughter of Rodney and Jacqueline (Cole) Renadette. She graduated for Peru High School in 1995 and later from SUNY Plattsburgh with a BS Degree in Biology and a minor in Math and Chemistry, where she also tutored those courses. Chanda was instrumental in making Plattsburgh State University College handicap accessible. She was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society. She did Tracks for Troops to raised funds for supplies for her brother's battalion while stationed in Iraq; where she wore out her wheelchair in the process. Jayln was an advocate for organ donation and helping anyone she could. When Jayln lived in Plattsburgh, she was a board member/volunteer for the North Country Center for Independent Living, volunteered at the SPCA and the Adirondack Humane Society. When she moved to Saranac Lake, she helped with village improvement projects, raised money through numerous activities for local non-profit charities and was nominated Vice-President of the Aktion Club. Jayln enjoyed, crafts, reading, board games, trivia and was a fierce competitor while watching Jeopardy. She was very active, bowling, swimming, and adaptive skiing at Whiteface Mountain where she won a Gold Medal at the Empire State Games. She was predeceased by her fiancé, Peter Haas, her paternal grandparents Esther and Leon Renadette and her maternal grandfather Arthur Cole. She is survived by her mother Jacqueline "Jackie" Renadette of Plattsburgh, her father Rodney Renadette of Seneca Falls, NY, her brother Treavor Renadette and his wife Meghan of Long Island, NY, her special godson Colum Thomas, her sweet twin nieces; Isla and Alice, her maternal grandmother Jane Cole and several aunts, uncles, cousins, her beloved cat Emma and her extended Edgewood Family in Saranac Lake, NY. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake, NY. Entombment will be held at Gods Acre Cemetery, Peru, NY at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the North Country Veteran's Association, P.O. Box 1161, Plattsburgh NY, 12901 or the Tri-Lakes Humane Society, 255 George Lapan Memorial Hwy, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
