Charles “Chuck” Voorhees, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and friend to all who crossed his path, passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 6, 1946, in Orlando Florida to Charles L. and Margaret (Tinsley) Voorhees. Chuck lived a life full of service, laughter and love, touching countless lives along the way.

Chuck served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, retiring after a distinguished career marked by dedication and integrity. He went on to serve his community again, retiring from a second career in corrections. Chuck had a gift for making friends wherever he went. Whether on the golf course, at a local grocery store, or simply running errands around town, his easy smile and warm personality made people feel like they’d known him forever. His love for golf was only matched by his love for storytelling and many rounds were spent laughing as much as swinging clubs.

In addition to his magnetic personality, Chuck was an accomplished golfer with a remarkable record. He achieved 16 holes-in-one over the years, a feat that few can claim. He was a proud winner of the Barracks Club Championship, Barracks Senior Club Championship, and the prestigious Masters North Legends Championship. Chuck was also known for shooting his age, or better, hundreds of times, a testament to his skill and passion for the game. Chuck shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Theresa (Terry). Together they raised three

children, Carey (Brian) Ditton, Charles II (Jessica) Voorhees, and Courtney Voorhees, and built a home filled with love and unforgettable memories. Nothing brought Chuck more joy than being “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren: Carolyn, Katelyn, and Nicholas Voorhees, each of whom he adored deeply and proudly. Chuck’s legacy also lives on through his family including his sister Marlie (John) Taylor, Kathy (Joel) Firme, Julie (Mike) Kelly, Bob (Sue) Provost, Michael (Alyce) Provost, Bill Provost and many nieces and nephews, friends and golfing buddies.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret Voorhees and in-laws, Robert and Mary Provost, as well as three brothers who were dear to him. Chuck’s life was one of service, family, friendship, and finding joy in every day. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his stories, laughter, golfing triumphs and kindness will live on in all who knew him.

A mass in honor of Chuck will be held on July 11, 2025 at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, NY at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cause near and dear to him: Elmore SPCA Inc. (https://www.elmorespca.org/) or Operation Gratitude (https://www.operationgratitude.com/).
