Chester A Lavalley

Plattsburgh Mr. Chester A. "Chet" LaValley, 100, formerly of the S. F. Vilas Home, Plattsburgh, NY passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Champlain, NY on July 15, 1915 the son of Warren and Ida (Hebert) LaValley. Chet was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. He was employed as a salesman for most of his career. His passion was music. He will be remembered for his band Chet's Four Notes. Chet enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and playing pool. At the age of 94, Chet recorded a scratch score of 90 and he was a ranger at the North Country Golf Club. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Plattsburgh Lodge #621, American Legion Post #20 and the Knights of Columbus Council #255. Chet was predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Alonzo "Moon", James and Maurice LaValley and a sister Eva Gload. He is survived by his son Bruce C. LaValley and his wife Pam of Plattsburgh, his granddaughter Kelli Calongne and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh, a sister-in-law Veronica LaValley of Kentucky, his very special friend Anita Lemire of Plattsburgh and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Aubin presiding. Interment with military honors will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, Champlain, NY. Chet's family is most grateful to the staff of the Vilas Home and the fifth floor at CVPH Medical for the outstanding care and compassion that they provided to Chet.
