Clifton H Rock

d. May 23, 2018

Clifton H. Rock, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the UVM CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on December 4, 1935, the son of Herbert and Delia (Rondeau) Rock. He grew up with his 11 siblings and twin sister with the Adirondack wilderness in his backyard. in the Adirondacks creating his true love for the wilderness. He joined the Airforce as a young man and served as a small engine mechanic during the Korean War. During this time he met his wife, Beverly Rock (Flood). Shortly after they married and created their own beautiful family of 5- Bobby, Cathy, Kattie, Kimmy, and Jean (5 grandkids, and 4 great-grandchildren would come later). But whether you knew him as Clifton, Frisco, Rocky, or Dad/grandpa he touched many lives. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was truly one of a kind. A complete original "Adirondack-er" through and through. He had an uncanny nack for story telling or as we'd call them, "Walter" stories! Fish SO big we could ride on their backs! SO big it broke the net! Deer with so many horns he felt bad shooting them! You could always find him in the mountains fishing, hunting, and trapping, or making new campsites, cutting trails and driving the DEC crazy, which he thought was funny! After over 50 years in the Brick Layer Union, as a master concrete/brick layer he had a hand in laying the foundations of most buildings in Plattsburgh and the surrounding areas; CVPH, the mall, all the local area schools, the Olympic training center in Lake Placid and many more. He could build and fix anything! Wrong parts? No problem” he'd make one, and hammer it to fit and paint it to match! Above all else he loved his family. He is survived by his wife Beverly, their children; Robert Rock and Sandy LaRose, of Plattsburgh, Catherine Duprey and Wilfred Young of Cadyville, Kattie Rock and Marckey Clancy of Cadyville, Kimmy Rock of Brattleboro VT, Jean and Jeff Maillie of Rochester NY; his grandchildren Kristen and Richard Carnahan, Kara Maillie, Brandon Maillie, Grace McNeil, and Liam McNeil; his great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Victoria, Aurelia, and Brynlei. As well as brother Chester & Virginia Rock, and sister Goldie Reid. There will be no public calling hours.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at St.James Church in Cadyville, NY. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901(518) 561-3980. Online condolences may be offered atwww.brownfuneralhomeinc.com
