LCDR David Dutcher, USN (RET) of Lake Shore Road, Chazy, NY, passed away on November, 03 2025 at his private residence, in Chazy, NY.
He was born on March 12, 1933, in Oxford, NY, the son of Harry and Gertrude Dutcher. He graduated from Northville High School in Northville, NY
in 1950 and enlisted in the Navy in 1951. After rising to the enlist rank of Chief Petty Officer, he became a Commissioned Officer
and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his naval career he served on four types of ships, including the Destroyer, Destroyer Escort, Heavy Cruiser and
Light Cruiser. He also completed three tours of recruiting duty. After proudly serving 23 years in the Navy, he retired in 1974.
He subsequently worked at Ayerst Wyeth Laboratories as a Maintenance Supervisor in Rouses Point and Chazy, NY. He retired (again) from Wyeth in 1991.
David was predeceased by both his parents, his wife of 62 years, LaVerne , and son, George.
He is survived by his two daughters: Ellen Wilkie and her husband Bruce of Duanseburgh, NY and Lori Dutcher and her long-time companion Louise Brown of Warwick,
as well as two sons: Daniel Dutcher and his wife Kathleen of Greenfield Center, NY and Douglas Dutcher of Chazy, NY. He is also survived by two granddaughters: Linda Hines
and her husband Kyle of Saratoga Springs, NY and Victoria Dutcher-Brown of Boston, MA.
While in the Navy, David and his family moved 26 times in 23 years, seeing much of the country. For about 25 years years, he greatly enjoyed wintering in Destin, Florida,
(with his wife for 21 years). David loved the Navy, his family, friends, and fishing, especially for the Bass in Lake Champlain. He became an accomplished angler, landing
more than 50 Bass one summer in his bay. Being old school, he would often modestly say "oh boy" while reeling in a particular large bass. He walked softly with his children
but carried a big stick. He was a man of few words, but those who knew him listened carefully to each word given his profound wisdom and heart- felt advise.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held with full military honors at the Edinburgh, NY cemetery on a November 10, 2025 at 1:00 P.M..
