Diana M. John passed away May 1, 2020 at CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY at the age of 92. She was born June 27, 1927 to Donato and Immaculata Colaluca Filancia in Port Chester, NY where she attended public schools.
She was a retired legal secretary and worked for various attorneys in Port Chester. She moved to Plattsburgh, NY in July of 1995.
Diana was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. She was active throughout her life in various organizations: Catholic Daughters of America Court Resurrection No. 891, Rye, NY as well as in Plattsburgh; Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Our Lady of mercy Seniors in Port Chester. In Plattsburgh she was also involved in the Red Hatters and volunteered at Our Lady of Victory Clothing Store as well as their Harvest Dinner.
Diana is survived by 2 children: Angela (Bunny) Esposito and her spouse Rudolph(Rudy) Brouwer of Plattsburgh and Robert(Bobby) John of Stamford, CT; a daughter-in-law Carmella John of Margate FL; 3 granddaughters: Pamela and Angie Esposito and Krystle(Joe) Forgione. 4 grandsons: Angelo(Macy) John; Dean(Sabrina) John, Stephen(Tracey) Esposito, Dennis(Liliana) Brouwer. 6 great grandchildren: Samuel Esposito, Angelo John, Mathew and Jack Brouwer, Giovanni and Grace Forgione; and 1 great great grandson Arthur Esposito. She is also survived by 1 brother and sister-in-law Dino and Mary Filancia of Port Chester; several nieces and nephews and her loving companion in crime Scooby the dog!
She is predeceased by her parents; a son Angelo P John, Jr.; 2 brothers Samuel and Anthony Onofrio; 2 sisters Florence Baratta and Louise Lonzo; a granddaughter Tiffany Lynn John; a son-in-law Stephen J. Esposito and a daughter-in-law Debra John.
Due to the recent events a private funeral service will be held for the family. A celebration of her life and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Chester will be held at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the ASPCA or the Humane Society.
Mom was a strong compassionate woman that will truly be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
