Edna R. Darrah, 93, of Military Turnpike, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. She was born in Fort Ann, NY on February 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Almon and Edith (Sumner) Rathbun.
Edna graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 1948 and was an elementary school teacher for the Plattsburgh City School District until her retirement in 1982. She was a parishioner of St. Alexander’s Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time at their camp at Union Falls and spending time with her family. Edna was delighted to have attended her two granddaughter’s weddings in September of 2020.
She is survived by her children; Neil Darrah and his wife Donna , Jeffrey Darrah, Kay Darrah and her companion Keith Hendry , Gail Nazak, her granddaughters; Kristy Burl and her husband Dana, Jenny Szablewski and her husband Charlie, her great granddaughter; Kennedy Ritter, three sisters-in-law Shirley St. Louis, Shirley Darrah and Gen Hart and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward Darrah whom she married April 16, 1949 in Whitehall, NY, her brothers Charles and Sumner Rathbun and a son-in-law Rick Nazak.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville.
Face masks and social distancing must be observed.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Masses may be offered in her memory.
