Edward W ""Ed"" Darrah

Plattsburgh Mr. Edward W. "Ed" Darrah, 88, of the Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on April 16, 1926 the son of William and Jennie (Guyette) Darrah. Ed was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time at camp at Union Falls with family and friends. Ed retired from Imperial Paper Mill in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20, the Knights of Columbus Council #255, Bishop Wadhams Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Ed was predeceased by his parents William and Jennis Darrah, his brother Ralph Darrah and his sisters; Gladys Manor, Marion Darrah, Frances and Dorothy Cook. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Edna (Rathbun) Darrah, of Plattsburgh whom he married April 16, 1949 in Whitehall, New York. Ed is also survived by two sons; Neil Darrah and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh, Jeffrey Darrah of Plattsburgh, two daughters; Kay Darrah and her companion Keith Hendry of Queensbury, Gail Nazak and her husband Rick of Peru, two sisters; Genevieve Hart of Beacon, NY, Shirley St. Louis and her husband Stanley of Plattsburgh, two sisters-in-law; Shirley Darrah of Plattsburgh, Louella Rathbun of Whitehall, two granddaughters; Kristy Dumont and her husband Ryan of Plattsburgh, Jennie Falco and her companion Charlie Szablewski of Queensbury, NY a great grandchild Kennedy Ritter of Plattsburgh, several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be on Thursday July 17, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Interment will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery.
