Plattsburgh Mr. Edward L. "Ed" Hynes, Jr. 85, of Sandra Ave., Plattsburgh, NY passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Coxsackie, NY on December 17, 1930 the son of Edward L. and Ellen (Fitzpatrick) Hynes, Sr. Ed served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life Margery Mongeon in 1952 at St. John's Church in Rensselaer, NY. Together they owned and operated Champlain Electronics and subsequently Hynes Electrical Supply on South Platt St. Ed enjoyed hunting, relaxing, doing yard work and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Blue Mountain Lake Hunting Lodge and a member of St. John's Church where he served as an usher. Ed was predeceased by his parents and a sister Patricia Palmer. He is survived by his wife Margery Hynes of Plattsburgh, his children; Edward Hynes and his wife Peggy of Fairport, NY, Lisa Morrow and her husband James of Plattsburgh, Jo Ann Hynes of Plattsburgh, John Hynes and his wife Kerry of Plattsburgh, four grandchildren; Erin Phalen and her husband Patrick, Meghan Hoyt and her husband Jason, twins Elizabeth and Matthew Hynes, two great grandchildren; Jaxon and Avery Phalen, several nieces, nephews and his canine companion Puck. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church, Plattsburgh. Interment with military honors will follow at Divine Mercy Cemetery on Cumberland Head. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to Hospice of the North Country.
