Ellen F Egglefield

Ellen F. Egglefield, 85 of Club Road, Plattsburgh, NY and formerly of Elizabethtown, NY, passed away on Monday January 25, 2016 at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in New Russia, NY on February 14, 1930 the daughter of Edward and Martha (Denton) Farrell. Ellen married Lawrence Hurley in 1949 in Elizabethtown and soon after moved to Plattsburgh. She worked for New York Telephone Co. in Plattsburgh for 35 years, retiring 1984. After retiring she married Spencer Egglefield, he passed away in 2007. Ellen was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and American Legion Auxiliary in Elizabethtown. In her later years Ellen was very much an entrepreneur starting her own businesses including "El's Attic" on Trinity Place selling vintage clothes and was owner and proprietor of the "Schroon Lake Place" which gave Ellen and her husband Spen great joy. They loved hosting family and friends from near and far. She was predeceased by her siblings; John Farrell and William Farrell. Ellen is survived by Christine Mero and her husband Marc of Rouses Point, NY, Lynda Dobkowski and her husband Thomas of Liverpool, NY, Sandra Perry and her husband Rick of Plattsburgh and Patrick Hurley and his wife Danielle of Jamesville, NY, eight grandchildren; Matthew Mero, Jessica Coffman, Aimee Arts, Jason Perry, Daniel and Katie Dobkowski, Alyssa and Kyle Hurley, 10 great grandchildren, her step children; Dennis (Joan) Egglefield, Deirdre (John) Egglefield, Trisha (Paul) Baker, Wendy (Judd) Burgesson and Carrie Egglefield, eight step grandchildren; Corey and Kent Egglefield, Shelby Boisvert, Cashia Wineburg, Beau and Ben Egglefield, Amy Phillips and Matthew Baker, seven step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:30 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel; burial will be later in the year at the Essex County Veterans Cemetery in Waddams, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Ellen's memory may be made to the Essex County Veterans Cemetery.
