Emmet F. Gleason, 92, of Fiske Road, West Chazy, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. Emmet was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on June 10, 1926, the adopted son of J. Leo and Connie (McGaulley) Gleason. After attending schools in West Palm Beach and Wisconsin, Emmet spent several years working on the farm of his uncle and aunt, John and Liz Gleason in Clayburg. He moved back to Florida in 1973 to be with his parents until his father's death in 1977, at which time he and his mother moved back to Plattsburgh. He lived with his aunt, Eileen McGaulley, and his mother, whom he assisted until her death in 1993. He was always cheerful, and was loved by all who knew him. Emmet was affiliated with Clinton County Advocacy and Resource Center and the Special Olympics. He shared with his father a love of golf and horse racing. He had a lifelong interest in cars, and put together many album books of photos and memories. While with the ARC, he discovered a passion for bowling, and attended tournaments around the state. He is survived by cousins; Theresa Pellerin, Ann Walker, J. William and Helen Gleason, Nancy McGaulley, Michael and Susan McGaulley. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 10, from 10:00 am to12:00 noon at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in West Palm Beach, Florida at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to the ARC Foundation.
