Erin Elizabeth McAuliffe, 46, passed away peacefully surrounded by love under the exceptional care of the Palliative Care Team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on May 11, 2026. Erin was born on June 20, 1979, in Plattsburgh, NY to James McAuliffe and Cheryl Murray.
Erin graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1997 and later earned an associate degree in accounting from Clinton Community College.
Together with her lifelong partner and best friend of 30 years, Matt Austin, Erin proudly owned and operated Austin Pool Cleaning. Erin and Matt built not only a business together, but a life grounded in loyalty, hard work, love, and unwavering partnership.
Erin was an avid reader with a love for history, trivia, and lifelong learning. She was loyal, dedicated, and deeply goal oriented. Though her circle was small, those fortunate enough to be part of it knew they had a friend for life. Erin took great pride in caring for her yard and especially loved caring for her beloved fur babies, most recently her miniature dachshund, Itty-Bitty.
She is survived by her devoted partner, Matt Austin, who for 30 years was her greatest support, cheerleader, partner, and most recently, caregiver; her parents, James McAuliffe of Cadyville and Cheryl Murray (James) of Peru; her sisters, Michelle Senecal of Indiana, Keri McAuliffe (Seth Bombeck) of Plattsburgh, and Jamie McAuliffe (Brian Stone) of Plattsburgh; along with six nieces and one nephew: Kylie McAuliffe, Kasie Senecal, Andrew Senecal, Delaney Garrant, Kailey Garrant, Maura Garrant, and Muire Bombeck; and her beloved goddaughter Rhonan Malpass-Villenave
Erin and her family encourage everyone to trust their instincts and always seek a second opinion.
Calling hours will be held on Monday May 18, 2026, from 2-4pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh with a Funeral Service being held at 4:00pm at the Funeral Home.
