Florence E "Flo" Rivers

Florence E. “Flo” Rivers, 90, of Propsect Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday February 23, 2019 at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on December 6, 1928 the daughter of Norman and Laura (Bodah) Bird.
Flossy grew up in Plattsburgh and worked at CVPH Medical Center, first as a CNA and later becoming the first EKG Technician at CVPH, retiring in 1993 at 34 years. She achieved a lifelong goal with her sister in 1992 when they receiving their GEDs. Flossy was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh, a member of the VFW Post 125 in Plattsburgh, a member of St. Peter’s Church and was the first woman to compete in the Demolition Derby at the Clinton County Fair in the late 1970’s.
She was predeceased by her parents, two children; Henry Rivers and Kate Mitchell, a granddaughter Nora Mitchell and a son-in-law Joseph Mitchell.
Flossy is survived by her children; Veronica “Bonnie” Lombard and her husband Steven of West Chazy, Anthony “Jay” Rivers and his wife Donna of West Chazy, ten grandchildren; Danielle, Suzanne, Chasity, Peter, Alysha, Paul, Michael, Melissa, Mary and Raymond, seventeen great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Lou Baker of Plattsburgh, several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday February 28, 2019 from 2:30 to 5:30 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, a funeral service will follow at 5:30 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
