Francis C. Terry, 86 of Plattsburgh, New York passed away on January 5, 2023, at University of Vermont Health Network at CVPH with his family by his side. Francis was born in Pennington, New Jersey on July 28, 1936, the son of the late James and Sarah (Hicks) Terry. He graduated from Robert Morris High School in Morrisville, PA in 1955. After graduation Francis joined the United States Navy and served 6 years on a destroyer, The USS Forrest Royal, DD872 as a Quartermaster. He traveled across the world from Cuba to Africa, and Northern Europe – with many destinations in between. After leaving the Navy, he was employed at various positions throughout his life. Francis enjoyed sports [football (go Eagles), golf, bowling, baseball (go Phillies)], was an avid joke teller and loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Cena Josephine (Gilbreath) of Plattsburgh; his son Kenneth (Sharon) of Morrisonville; his grandchildren, Erin Terry of Plattsburgh and Brandon Terry of Copenhagen, Denmark; his great grandchildren; Gavin McCann, Maddox McCann and Olive Bleau all of Plattsburgh; his siblings; Kenneth of Morrisville, PA, Dorothy Serfass of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Delores Miller of Slidell, LA and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son Steven James Terry, and his siblings Elwood, James, Helen (South), Hallie (Ractell), Thelma (Welch), and Madeline (Koski).
In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life may occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to your favorite charity.
