Fred H. LaGoy, 85, of Cadyville, New York, passed away on October 4, 2026 with all of his family by his side. He was born on April 1, 1941, in Oneida, New York, to Fred A. LaGoy and Lucy (Dubrey) LaGoy.
On June 16, 1962, Fred married the love of his life, Annette Burdo, at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks, New York. Together, Fred and Annette shared an incredible 64 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and many wonderful memories.
Fred worked at Clinton Correctional Facility for 24 years, beginning his career in maintenance before becoming a supervisor in the tailor shop.
Fred was a kind-hearted and generous man who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he took tremendous pride in the family he and Annette built together.
An avid sportsman, Fred especially enjoyed hunting whitetail deer. He also had a great love for racing and snowmobiling. These passions brought him countless memories and many friendships throughout the years.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Annette (Burdo) LaGoy; his sons, Fred H. (Nance) LaGoy and Robert (Barbara) LaGoy; and his grandchildren, Nicholas (Kyli) LaGoy, Danielle LaGoy, Robert LaGoy Jr., Ryan, Heather, and Brandon. Fred was the proud great-grandfather of Cash LaGoy and the late Elizabeth LaGoy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Glenn) Swanson and Louise Mazuchowski.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred A. LaGoy and Lucy (Dubrey) LaGoy, as well as his sister; Evelyn Kerr.
Fred will be remembered most for his kind heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the love he had for his family. He valued family and friendship deeply and took great pride in the life he and Annette built together over their more than six decades of marriage.
His love, stories, memories, and the many lessons he passed along will remain with his family and friends for generations to come. Fred’s legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched along the way.
Visitation will be held 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 PM Wednesday October 7 at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora, NY, concluding with burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred’s memory to Hospice of the North Country.
