Frederick W Balko

Orlando Florida Frederick W. Balko, 81, of Leesburg, FL and Crimson Way, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Friday August 12, 2016 at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL. He was born in Bellingham, WA on February 25, 1935 the son of Clarence and Zelda (Brooks) Balko. Frederick married Shirley Farrell on July 20, 1957 at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Chapel. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1974, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Fredrick enjoyed traveling throughout the continental United States and Europe. He was a member of The Disabled American Veterans, Post 179, St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, NY and volunteered. Frederick enjoyed computers and recording DVDs. He was predeceased by a brother Clarence "Jack" Balko, Jr. and two sisters Jeanette Parent and Myrle Kienitz. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Balko of Plattsburgh, four children and their spouses; James (Margaret) Balko of Morrisonville, John (Teri) Balko of Beekmantown, Cindy (Richard) LaMoy of Morrisonville and Lisa (Chris) Dumar of Morrisonville, ten grandchildren; Joe, James, David, Thomas, Richard, William, Sam, Alec, Melissa and Jacob, a great grandson Everett, several nieces and nephews also survive him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to a charity of one choice that assists with Alzheimer's Research or that assists homeless veterans.
