Gerald P Burdo

Gerald P. Burdo, 64, of Monty St, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Thursday May 15, 2014 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after his long battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh, on April 20, 1950, the son of Homer and Mildred (Lucia) Burdo. Gerald grew up in Plattsburgh and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. He was a baseball advocate, coaching for 29 years and working as the vice president of Plattsburgh Little League for 25 years as well as fundraising for the American Legion Baseball League. Gerald was always a role model to children over the years, but his greatest love was his role as "Papa," where he traveled to every sport he could for his grandchildren; never missing their baseball, tee ball, softball, soccer, volleyball or football games. His lap was never empty and his heart was always full. Gerald received the Volunteerism award from former Mayor Clyde Rabideau and the Liberty Bell award by the Clinton County Bar Association. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets, Miami Dolphins and NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson. Gerald was predeceased by his sister, Karen VanNortwick, and his brother-in-law, Richard Maisano, and best friends; Gary Baker, Gary "Goose" Gagnon, and Gordie Coryea. He is survived by his parents and his wife Karen, his sons and their wives who he loved as daughters; Kyle Burdo and his wife Nikki of Plattsburgh, Craig Burdo and his wife Lori of Stillwater, NY, Christopher Burdo and his wife Heather of Troy, NY, his six grandchildren; Sydney, Sophie, Halle, Brody, Kaden and Aubrey, his sister Cathy Maisano, his brothers; Gary Burdo and his wife Cindy, Jimmy Burdo and his wife Diane, Steve Burdo and his wife Marylou, his brothers-in-law Phillip VanNortwick and his companion Beth, Tom Maisano and his sister-in-law Michele Maisano, and Sue Baker, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will held on Monday May 19, 2014 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh, burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Gerald always believed his family was his friends and his friends were his family and that love doesn't end. "LOVE YOU ALL!!"
