Gerald F Dupree

Plattsburgh Mr. Gerald F. Dupree, 84, of Plattsburgh passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in Ellenburg, NY on October 20, 1929 the son of Modest and Bertha (Miller) Dupree. Gerald served in the Korean War as a sergeant, receiving a purple heart for his service. He received many awards over the years for his work as a heavy equipment operator and was best known for his hard work ethic. He was a member of the American Legion post #20, VFW post #125 and the DAV. Gerald took pride in maintaining his home, had a love for country music and "vanilla milkshakes", but his greatest pride was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant brother, John, and his oldest child Jerry Dupree. Gerald is survived by his wife Grace (LaFave) of 60 years, his children; Karen and her husband Greg Harkenrider of Duanesburg, NY, Kevin and his wife Donna of Milford, PA, David and his wife Mary of Newburgh, NY, Mary A. Dupree of Plattsburgh, Dale and his wife Yvette Gonyea-Dupree of Peru, and Rose and her husband Arsene Letourneau, of Rouses Point, his grandchildren; Zachary and his wife Yukari Harkenrider, Daniel Harkenrider, Jacqueline Dupree, Rachel Letourneau, Matthew Gonyea-Dupree, his sister Shirley and her husband Donald Snide of Churubusco and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. with military honors at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.
