Gerard Donald Bechard

CHAZY, NY - Gerard Donald Bechard, 86, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at CVPH medical center after a brief illness. Gerard was born on March 14, 1929, to Napoleon and Josephine Bechard, in a family of nine siblings, growing up in Champlain, NY. Gerard wed Sally Louise Bouyea, of Plattsburgh, NY, on October 27th, 1949. In 1963, Gerard, along with Sally, was the founders and proprietors of Monty's Bay Campsites, later to become Monty's Bay Recreation, Inc. Gerard is survived by his children; Two daughters, Jolie Gordon, husband Samuel, and Pat Ayer, husband Ted; Three sons, Jay Bechard, wife Valerie, Thomas Bechard, wife Cynthia, and Andrew Bechard, wife Maria; eight grandchildren, Seth and Cinnamon Gordon, Jolie Ayer, spouse Kelly Haley, Sarah Bechard, Annie, Juliette, and Gerard Donald Bechard II, Louisa Bechard; 2 great grandchildren, Mitchel Ayer and Catherin (Ayer) Watkins, husband Patrick, and 2 great great grandchildren, Kaeyln and Emree Watkins. Gerard was also survived by four siblings, sisters Irene Babbie, Gabrielle Bishop, and Framboise Smith, and brother Robert Bechard, wife Barbara. He was predeceased by his wife Sally, who passed away in 2013, sister Agnes LaFontaine, and brothers Arthur, Orel, Lionel, and Rene. Per Gerard's wishes there are no calling hours, and a memorial event will be announced at a later date.
