Gladys H Laplante

Plattsburgh Mrs. Gladys H. LaPlante, 86, of Route 3, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Wilson, North Carolina on December 29, 1924 the daughter of William Charles and Nanny (Pitman) Hunt. She graduated from Kinston High School in Kinston North Carolina and the Bradford Beauty School in New York City Class of 1954. Gladys owned and operated Gladys' Beauty Salon on Route 3 in West Plattsburgh for over thirty years. She was a member of the New York State Hairdressers Association and the Senior Citizens Council. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lester H. LaPlante, Sr., her siblings, William Hunt, Leslie Hunt, Brooks Hunt, Royce Hunt; her sisters Betty LaBazz and Hazel Goff. She is survived by a son Lester H. LaPlante, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Plattsburgh, a grandson Andrew LaPlante and his wife Nicole of Peru, Angela LaPlante of Savannah, Georgia, Aimee LaPlante of Fort Myers, Florida, two great grandchildren Peter and Simone LaPlante. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road.
