Gregory Dennis Johnson

Gregory Dennis Johnson, Age 79, of Ticonderoga, NY, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. Gregory was born December 3, 1945 in Borger, Texas to Earl Delbert Johnson and Dorothy LaVonne Johnson.

He received his several college degrees from The Williamsport Area Community College (Now Penn State), Bloomsburg State University, Bucknell University and The University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Business. He retired from The Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. Prior to accepting that post, he served in the same capacity with Williamsport Wire Rope Federal Credit Union. Previously he retired from his first career as an investment banker with several international brokerage houses including Merrill Lynch, Shearson Lehman Hutton and Paine Webber. He rose to the rank of Senior Vice President of all three organizations. Gregory was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran of the war in Vietnam, where he served with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

During his career he was active in many religious and civic organizations where he served as member, officer and director. He was a director of Moses-Ludington Hospital and was Board Treasurer of The Dollars for Scholars Education Fund, Putnam Station, NY. He served as a trustee of Penn College, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Pennsylvania State University where he was honored as the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year in 1988. Gregory was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and The Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ticonderoga, NY.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 19 years, Carol Anne Bolton (Ferguson) Johnson of Ticonderoga, NY, a son, Erik Clayton Johnson of Ephrata, PA, a step-son, William David Ferguson of Plattsburgh, NY, a step-daughter, Kimberly Anne (Ferguson) Woodard of Troy, NY, a sister, Charlotte Agda Chapman of Columbus, Ohio, and three siblings in law, William Richard Bolton (Sandra) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Charles Maxwell (Janet) of Leland, North Carolina and Joan Gijanto (James) of Ticonderoga, NY and three step-grandchildren, Amber Woodard Gilbert, Kyle Woodard and Stephen Woodard. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Gregory was predeceased by a sister Kathleen LaVonne Massey, of Kansas City, MO, brother, Edward Earl Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, and brother, Robert Michael Johnson of Towanda, Kansas.
