Harold L. Geno

Harold L Geno 94 of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025 at UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY, with his loving family surrounding him.

He was born February 16th, 1931 to William and Viola (Lashway) Geno in Plattsburgh, NY.

Harold entered the Navy in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1952. Travels landed him in Long Island where he worked with race horses and later became a horse jockey. He then attended and graduated from meat cutting school, was an entrepreneur with John and Susan’s mom Elaine in a family restaurant, and lastly retired from construction.

His lifelong hobby of playing and singing music started when he was 14 years old. He passed his love of music down to family members, his children and later to all of his grandchildren. It wasn’t unusual for him to pull up to our houses with bluegrass music blaring on his radio, or to whip out his fiddle or mandolin during a visit to his home.

Harold also loved playing cards, visiting the casino, fishing, walking at the beach, feeding the birds, playing pool, going for car rides and of course he never passed up an opportunity to go and watch his son John play in the band.

He is survived by his son John (Song) Geno, daughter Susan (Paul) Andre, his grandsons Christopher and Tony Geno, Tyler and Jacob Andre, and granddaughter Katherine (Levi)

Sheats. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Nuss, sister in laws Opal Geno and Barbara Dunn along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Beaulah Ducatte, Rita Cantella, Marvin and Leon Geno.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Alexander’s church in Morrisonville, NY 12962. Committal prayers, full military honors, and burial will follow at St. Peters cemetery in Plattsburgh, NY.
