Henry J. Langworthy, 88, of Willsboro, NY passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019. He was born in Staten Island, NY, on April 17, 1930, the son of Leslie and Mildred (Burgher) Langworthy.
Mr. Langworthy had a career in the financial world that spanned 71 years, starting in 1948. He was a senior Trust Officer at The Hanover Bank, now J.P. Morgan Chase, a Principal of the New York Stock Exchange and Managing Partner of Wood Walker & Co., Securities and Brokerage Firm, Corporate Secretary of Lexington Management, a Mutual Fund and Advisory Firm, a Vice President of Madison Advisors, Senior Vice President of Munn Bernhard and Co. and President of H.J. Langworthy Investors, Inc. The latter two were Investment Advisory Firms.
He was a graduate of Curtis High School, Wagner College and attended the Harvard School of Banking. During the Korean Conflict he served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Tank Battalion Operations Officer. He was a member of the Richmond County Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Pistilli Langworthy, their children, Leslie Langworthy Johnson, Laura Langworthy and Michael Langworthy, four grandchildren, Melanie, Marissa, Matthew and Jenna, and his sister Lila Majewski.
His daughter, Laura, chairman of H.J. Langworthy Investors, Inc. said “My father had two passions in life. He believed that anyone with application of effort and a good education could attain whatever he or she aspired to be and that there was dignity in physical labor and his greatest passion was growing his clients’ portfolios.”
The family would like to thank Elmer Senecal and Spencer Lobdell, the Willsboro EMS, Dr. Joel Wolkowicz, Cardiologist, and the entire staff of the UVM-CVPH Medical Center.
