Dr. Honorio Torres Dispo, a devoted physician, proud veteran, and beloved family man, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and dedication. He was born on October 2, 1944, in the Philippines to Honorio Generao Dispo and Carmen Torres Dispo.

Dr. Dispo earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1969 from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Helen Casuga Roaquin. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family. In 1974, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and their three young children—Karen, Francis, and Diane—in pursuit of greater opportunity and a brighter future.

He completed his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Dispo went on to establish a distinguished medical career, opening his first private practice at Glens Falls Hospital and serving the Saratoga Springs community. He later held leadership roles as Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, and as Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Medical Center (CVPH). He remained dedicated to patient care in both hospital and private practice settings until his retirement in 2021.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Dispo served honorably in the United States Army Reserve. Commissioned as a Captain, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel—an achievement he regarded among his proudest accomplishments.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dispo found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter, with a deep love for the Adirondacks and the North Country, where he spent many cherished hours immersed in nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen R. Dispo; his children, Karen (Craig), Francis (Marion), and Diane (Aaron); and his cherished grandchildren, Dante Anthony, Nathaniel Robert, Matilda Ann, Raphael Honorio, Honorio Melvin, Rodrigo Francis, and Hunter Jude. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and former patients whose lives he touched deeply.

Dr. Dispo was also a founding member of the Philippine American Physiatrist Association (PAPA). In honor of his commitment to his profession and community, a memorial scholarship will be established through PAPA to support and encourage future generations of Filipino physiatrists.

Dr. Dispo will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication—as a physician, mentor, colleague, and friend. Above all, he will be most profoundly missed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Dispo will be laid to rest at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

His legacy of care, service, and love will endure in all who knew him.
