Howard M. McCormick Jr.

Howard M. McCormick, 84, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Clinton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on June 15, 1942, the son of Howard M. McCormick Sr. and Hazel (Stein) McCormick.

Although Howard was a grump and had a sarcastic sense of humor, he was always a hard worker and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. In his younger years, he was in the fire department, a logger, and a truck driver. Prior to retirement, he worked in the sanitation department in El Centro, CA. In his spare time, he loved fishing.

Howard is predeceased by his wife, Marlene (Barcomb) McCormick; his parents, Howard Sr. and Hazel (Stein) McCormick; his sisters, Sharon (McCormick) Moore, Candice (McCormick) Hanson, and Mona Rae (McCormick) Wilkinson; his brothers, Patrick McCormick and Ricky McCormick; his brothers-in-law, Tyrone Setterson, Hap Litzell, and Richard Conniff; his grandson, Nathaniel Tristan McCormick; and his granddaughter, Athena Jane McCormick-Williams.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (McCormick) Williams, and her husband, Ryan; his daughter, Tasha McCormick; and his son, Waylon McCormick; his grandsons, Christopher, Blake, Cole, and Rowan; and his granddaughter, Rhiannon. He is also survived by his sisters, Amber (McCormick) Setterson, Renee (McCormick) Conniff, and Cindy (McCormick) Litzell; his brother, Danny McCormick; and many nieces and nephews. His niece, Diane Wilkinson, daughter of Mona Rae, was like another daughter to him and always reached out and kept in touch.

Lastly, there are a few other special people in Howard’s life who need mentioning: his cousins-in-law, Albert and Deanie Barcomb of West Chazy. Your kindness and warmth will always be cherished! Albert visited Howard faithfully every week, even until the very end. May God bless you both!
