James John Kelley, 65, of West Chazy, died Monday, April 28, 2025 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. He was born September 7, 1959, the son of John Kelley and Joyce Hemingway.
He is survived by his wife Janice (Paige) and daughter Karina and her husband, Jeff McCane. He is predeceased by his parents, younger brother, Michael, and brother-in laws, Brent Wilson, Dale Jennette, and William LePage.
Jim had a humble beginning, growing up on a farm in Chazy, NY and graduating from CCRS in 1977. Following many years at Georgia-Pacific in the paper industry he switched to a career in Safety and Health. He was employed at Wyeth, Bombardier, Century International Arms and, most recently, Dairy Farmers of America in St. Albans, VT.
After settling in West Chazy, with his wife Jan in 1985, he joined the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department and dedicated years of service as firefighter, AEMT, and Fire Commissioner. In 1992 Jim had the honor of receiving the very first EMT of the Year award in Clinton County.
Even with many accomplishments at work and in the Fire Department his main pride and joy will always be his daughter, Karina Mae, who was born in 1988.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing in the early days. In later years he most enjoyed spending time with friends in Altona, working on cars.
As a people-person he always had the ability to handle the toughest situations with a calm, sure, demeanor. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Burial will be held 10am, Monday, May 5, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy, NY.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
