James W. LaDue, a beloved father, grandfather, and community member, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Born in Beekmantown, NY, on July 17, 1949, James was a resident of West Chazy, NY, where he lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication.
James served his country with pride as a United States Marine, in Vietnam from 1968-1970 as a Lance Corporal, a testimony to his bravery and dedication. After his service, he spent 35 years working as a Machine Operator at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh, NY, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A devoted family man, James was a cherished father to his 11 surviving children: Angelina (Donald) Kent, James W. LaDue, Eric LaDue, Jason (Mindy) LaDue, Jeremy (Christina) LaDue, Tia (Paul) Doty, Katrina (Bill) Cross, Shanna Patrick Case) LaDue, Savannah LaDue, Tyler LaDue, and Phillip LaDue. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Matthew LaDue. James took immense joy in being the proud grandfather and great-grandfather of 54 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared countless precious moments.
James was preceded in death by his loving parents, Maynard and Loretta LaDue. Despite life's trials, he remained a steadfast and joyful presence, with a knack for jokes and a love for karaoke that brought laughter to those around him. One of his greatest joys was spending time watching westerns and visiting the Mother Cabrini shrine, where he found inspiration and peace.
Family, friends, and those who knew James are invited to celebrate his life at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the funeral service immediately following from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
James W. LaDue will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic but also for being an awesome provider and loving patriarch. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
