Janet M Crowley

Mrs. Janet M. Crowley, 85, of the Military Turnpike passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Jericho New York on July 2, 1926 the daughter of Walter and Marie (Trudeau) Smart. Janet taught school at Altona Central School and later owned and operated Crowley Grocery on the Military Turnpike with her husband Raymond. She enjoyed crocheting, needle work, reading and spending time with family and friends. Janet married Raymond Crowley on August 10, 1948 at St. Alexis Church in Jericho. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Marie Smart, a grandson Timothy Crowley and two sisters; Claire Beaubriand and Hilda Relation. Janet is survived by her husband of sixty three years Raymond Crowley of Altona, two sons; John Crowley and his wife Karen of Plattsburgh, Thomas Crowley and his wife Kathleen of Holbrook, Long Island, her grandchildren Shawn Crowley of Englewood, FL, Amy Romano and her husband Peter of Niskayuna, NY, Megan Crowley of Lake Placid, NY, Tara Prosser and her husband Jamie of Seaford, NY and Kristen Crowley of Garden City, KS, five great grandchildren; Peter Romano, Dominic Romano, Carmen Romano, Riley Prosser and Morgan Prosser, a brother-in-law Francis Crowley and his wife Joan of Altona, a sister-in-law Gertrude Jarvis and her husband Bob of FL, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Angel's Church, Altona. Interment will be later in the year at Holy Angel's Cemetery.
