Janice Louis Lafountain

Janice Louise (Knapp) LaFountain, 81, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away in her home Wednesday, April 24, 2013 with family by her side. Janice was born December 5, 1931 in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of Elaine (Brockney) Knapp and Ivers Knapp. She grew up on her parents' farm in Reber, NY and graduated from Willsboro Central School in 1950. Janice lived life rich with family. She was a wonderful and loving person who spent many years of her life caring for the elderly people in her family. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings... happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Survivors include Douglas Walker Sr. of Plattsburgh, Elaine Donges and husband William of East Chatham, Perry Walker and his companion Heidi Cook of Keesville, Barry LaFountain of Willsboro, Sheri Schassberger and husband Kurt of Virginia Beach, VA, and stepson Edgar D. LaFountain Jr. and wife Carolanne of Fort McCoy, Florida; eighteen grandchildren, Douglas Walker Jr., Taunya Duell, Richard Walker, Ethan Walker, Justin Donges, Anthony Walker, Nicholas Walker, Alexander Walker, Vincent Walker, Emily LaFountain, Tyler LaFountain, Craig Schassberger, Brad Schassberger, Jessica Schassberger, Sara Schassberger, Ivan LaFountain, and Edgar D. LaFountain III; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; brother James Knapp of Saranac Lake; sister Kalora Finucane of Essex; Janice was predeceased by her parents; husband Edgar D. LaFountain; Daughter-in-law Debra Walker; Grandson Jason Donges; two brothers Ralph I. Knapp and Alvin P. Knapp. At Janice's request there will be no public calling hours; services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
