Jerry Lee Derick

Jul 11, 1958 — Oct 2, 2026

Plattsburgh

Jerry Lee Derick, a loving husband, proud father & Poppy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 2nd at the age of 68.

A man of few words he left this world just as he lived in it—on his own terms. He leaves behind a family that loves him deeply and a legacy of strength, loyalty, and quiet devotion. Strong-willed and unabashedly stubborn, he stood firm in his convictions and approached life with an unyielding grit that earned the deep respect of everyone around him.

Underneath that rugged exterior was a man whose world revolved around his family. He was a dependable anchor as a husband, a constant source of quiet strength as a father, and a warm, proud presence as Poppy to his grandchildren. To his nieces and nephews, he was the uncle who could fix anything and always had a quiet word of wisdom when it mattered most.

A mechanic by trade and a true craftsman at heart, Jerry, possessed a rare talent for understanding how things worked. When he wasn’t in the garage with grease on his hands, he was happiest in the great outdoors. He found peace in the stillness of the woods while hunting and loved the simple comfort of sitting around a campfire under an open sky. Nature was where he recharged, reflecting his grounded, no-nonsense nature. Jerry also found great joy in going to car shows and concerts with his family & friends.

He is survived by his beloved Wife & life partner of 40 years, Kim; his Daughter, Kaela; his Grandson, Seth; Great Granddaughter, Delilah; Father-in-Law, Greg; His Brothers-in-Law, Sisters, Geraldine, Lucille and Thelma; along with several Nieces & Nephews.

He is predeceased by his Parents, Mildred & Gerald; Brothers, Cecil & Larry; Mother-in-Law, Glory; Nephew, Dylan; Beloved Grandson, Kaleb and Dog, Pebbles.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry's life on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 from 2PM-4PM at Brown Funeral Home Plattsburgh NY, with reception to follow, location to be announced day of services.
