Joan Flynn, 89, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away, November 7, 2026 in her home surrounded by family.
She was born in High Wycombe, England on May 18, 1937, the daughter of Alfred “Harry” and Rose Anne Rogers. Joan
was pre-deceased by her husband of over 70 years William F. Flynn. Bill and Joan met and married in
England when Bill was stationed there. Bill was the love of Joan’s life, and they went on to travel for 25 years in
the Air Force while raising their daughters, having lived in Morocco, Guam and the Philippines. Joan often
travelled alone with 3 little girls to join Bill in the country they were moving to. Her daughters remember her as the
strongest person who could conquer anything she set her mind to. They eventually bought their dream home in
Cliff Haven on Lake Champlain where they spent years boating with their “boating friends” and many
adventures, too many to list. She is survived by three daughters; Tracy Moloney and her husband Robert of
Winchendon, MA, Jenifer Flynn of Plattsburgh, NY, Hillary Lovato and her husband Joseph of Phoenix, AZ, a
cousin Pam Whatmore of High Wycombe, England, a sister-in-law Lois DeAngelis of Stuart, FL, her
grandchildren; Jessica LaPier and her husband Courtney, Evan Weymouth and his wife Sally, Charles Scott and his
wife Jenna, Maggie Reali and her husband Reno, and great-grandchildren, Shelby LaPier, Libby LaPier, Holden
Lapier and Ariana Weymouth, and several nieces and nephews. Joan worked for over 20 years at Planned
Parenthood including marching in Washington for women’s rights. Joan was a volunteer at CVPH for 15
years. We would like to thank her dedicated caregivers Joanna (who Joan liked to refer to as “her best friend”),
Jen, Kristen and all the hospice caregivers. There will be no calling hours or service. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Planned Parenthood of the North Country. Arrangements are
entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. (518)-561-3980. Online
