John J Murphy

Plattsburgh Mr. John J. "Jack" Murphy, 83, of Cogan Ave., Plattsburgh, New York passed away, Wednesday, November, 25, 2015 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on May 7, 1932 the son of John "Jim" and Mary Ellen (Clark) Murphy. Jack was a graduate of Ausable Forks High School. He served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. After serving his country, Jack retired from Clinton Correctional Facility as a Corrections officer. Jack was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13127. In his free time, Jack enjoyed being outside, golfing and hunting. Jack was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 52 years Marlene P. (Lucia) Murphy, two brothers; Charles Murphy and his son, Dale, and Patrick Murphy and Patrick's wife Gracelyn, his sister Ann Marie Strong and her husband Donald and their son Chad Strong. He is survived by, two daughters Jacqueline M. Allan and her husband William of Peru and Kim M. Hoyt and her husband Roger of Dannemora, two brothers; Thomas Murphy and his wife Dori of Ausable Forks, NY, Michael Murphy and his wife Joan of Clifton Park, NY, two sisters Kathleen Everleth and her husband Clark of Plattsburgh, Maureen Mize and her husband David of Midland, GA, a sister-in-law Veronica Murphy of Plattsburgh, three grandchildren; Zachary Hoyt and his wife Katie, Jonathan Allan, Nathan Allan and his companion Joselyn Gregory, his great-granddaughter Macie Hoyt and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church or to the North Country Honor Flight.
