Joseph C Proctor

Plattsburgh Joseph C. Proctor, 69, of McKinley Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York, passed away on Saturday April 9, 2016 at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 3, 1947 the son of Robert "Pickles" Proctor and Judy Guimond. Joe graduated from Beekmantown Central School and then went on to Plattsburgh State University. In 1967 Joe was drafted into the United States Army as a radio operator and was honorably discharged in 1969. Before and after being in the Army Joe played Professional Baseball for Minnesota Twins. After his baseball career he went on to work as a steam fitter for over 20 years. In the 1990's he opened Joe's Tavern on U.S. Avenue in Plattsburgh, which he operated for many years. Joe was a natural athlete and enjoyed baseball, pool, darts, spending time on Lake Champlain and going for drives especially around Cumberland Head. He was predeceased by his father and a sister-in-law Janine Proctor. Joe is survived by his mother Judy Severance of FL, his son Joseph A. Proctor and his wife Kimberlee of IN, three grandchildren; Joey, Izzy and Emma, his sibling; Judy Hewson and her husband Gary of AZ, John Proctor of FL, Candice Proctor of FL, Robert Proctor and his wife Leslie of IN, Jamie "Butch" Proctor and his wife Colleen of Plattsburgh, Cindy Hiller of Syracuse, Peter Proctor of FL and Jill Shnackenberg and her husband Tom of FL several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
