Joyce A Hamilton

Plattsburgh Joyce A. Hamilton, 77, of Nevada Oval, Plattsburgh and formerly of Staley Road, Morrisonville, NY passed away on Wednesday December 8, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 15, 1933 the daughter of Charles and Hildred (Devins) Manor. Joyce graduated from Peru Central School in 1950 and soon after went on to attend the Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1953. She married Elijah Hamilton at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh on October 16, 1954. She then became a Registered Nurse at Champlain Valley Hospital and later CVPH Medical Center, retiring in 1988. Joyce then worked for three years for Dr. Richard Murphy in Plattsburgh until fully retiring from nursing. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, gardening and could be seen working at Lamoy's Green House in the spring. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Joyce was a member of the Champlain Valley Alumni Associate and Plattsburgh Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband Elijah Hamilton who passed away in 1996, a son Chris Hamilton who passed away in 2001 and a special Aunt Roberta Lamoy. She is survived by three sons; Charles Hamilton of Morrisonville, Scott Hamilton and his wife Beth of Peru and David Hamilton and his wife Rebecca of Plattsburgh and a daughter, Susan Lucia and her husband Craig of Schuyler Falls, a daughter-in-law Tammy Hamilton of Schuyler Falls, eight grandchildren; Stephen Wills and his wife Kimberly, Matthew Hamilton and his wife Deanna, Laura Hamilton and her fiancé Phillip Lavoie, Nicholas Hamilton, Jessica Hamilton, Zachary Hamilton, Joshua Hamilton and Nathaniel Hamilton and a great granddaughter Hallee Duquette, a sister, Doris Rury and her husband Dr. John Rury of Plattsburgh, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 11, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a funeral service will follow at 3:00 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens on Tom Miller Road, in Plattsburgh.
