It is with sadness we announce that Judith A. Haley, 80 years old, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with her loving family and lifelong friend beside her. She was born on January 1, 1945, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Alma (Carr) Lavigne.
Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved travelling to see her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to her annual trip to St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Florida to visit with her siblings and sister-in-law where she could often be found on a shopping trip to Bealls, relaxing at happy hour, or enjoying a scoop of Larry’s ice cream for dessert. Judy loved her sweets and always had some M&Ms on hand to satisfy her evening sweet tooth. When not travelling, she loved being on the go catching up with her friends and family, running errands, or simply enjoying dinner at her favorite restaurant, Mickey’s.
After graduating from St Peter’s High School in 1963, Judy went to cosmetology school and owned a salon for a brief time before leaving to start her family. Shortly after, she opened her home to be a stay-at-home mom and childcare provider for over 30 years. Not ready to completely retire, she ventured into the hospitality industry where she enjoyed working at CVPH and Champlain Centre making special friendships along the way. Judy’s love for connecting with others brought her to volunteer her time at CVPH for the Cart-with-a-Heart.
She was married to Barry L. Haley for many years and together they raised their family. Though later divorced, they remained connected through their children and grandchildren, often travelling together to visit them, and enjoying holidays and special occasions.
Judy is survived by her children: Jill Wood (Lou Marnell); Julie Lilledahl and husband Shon; Jennifer Vella; and Jason Haley and wife Rosa. Grandchildren: Zachary (Jessica) MacDonald and James Wood; Ricardo Shon and Jacob (Tiffany) Lilledahl; Alexandra and Samantha Vella; Aria, Aaron, Anthony, and Addelynne Haley. Great Grandson: Jack Lilledahl and Baby Asher Lilledahl arriving this fall. Judy is also survived by her loving siblings, Edward C. Lavigne Jr (Bonnie) and Suzanne Brunet along with her special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including her lifelong friend, Mary Cordick.
She is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Alma Lavigne and son-in-law, Frank Vella Jr., as well as special in laws, Naoma Haley and Jim Haley.
Calling hours will be on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 11am-1pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30pm at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery also in Plattsburgh.
