Lawrence "Larry" E. Tourville, 75, of Plattsburgh, passed peacefully into the arms of God, Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh with his family by his side after a lengthy illness. He was born in Plattsburgh at his family's home on Miller Street on March 29, 1936, the son of William and Dora (Amo) Tourville. Larry was raised in a large loving family where a strong work ethic and honesty were instilled in him at a young age. Larry graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1956 and continued his education by completing a Bachelors and Master's degrees in Education at Plattsburgh State. Larry married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Carol Ann Anderson, August 11, 1962 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Larry worked as a 5th grade teacher at Keeseville Elementary School in Keeseville, NY for over 30 years. Larry will be forever remembered as a loving husband and caring father, grandfather, brother, son, and teacher. Larry was a role model for his children because he worked tirelessly providing for his family by teaching during the day and working as a part-time electrician in the evenings. He even built his family a home on Park Avenue in Plattsburgh using his own self-taught construction skills. Larry exuded a strong work ethic and a love of education, which he instilled in all of his children whom all became teachers following in their dad's footsteps. Larry was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Carol Ann Anderson, by his parents, William and Dora (Amo) Tourville, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Anna (LaPine) Anderson, a brother Joseph Tourville, and brother-in-laws: Richard Anderson, John Manny, and Alvin Stack. Larry is survived by his three devoted daughters: Suzanne Cooper of Colts Neck, NJ; Beth White and her husband Brian, of Plattsburgh; and Jacqueline Brown and her husband Jason; three grand-children, Andrew Cooper, Claire Brown and Chloe Brown; several sisters- and brothers-in-law, Sylvia Stack, of Plattsburgh; Gloria Manny, of Plattsburgh; Wilma Farley, of Plattsburgh; Caroline Tarricone and her husband Tony, of Plattsburgh; William and Deanie Tourville, of Columbia, SC; Arthur and Lettie Tourville, of Clinton; Diane Sitte and her husband Ziegfried, of Toronto, Canada; Nancy and Donald Argus of Liverpool, NY; Connie Madon of Plattsburgh; Yvonne Anderson of California; Sally Tourville of Plattsburgh, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday March 9, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, burial will be in the parish cemetery later in the year. Larry's family would like to deeply thank the staff of the Clinton County Nursing Home for making the last months of his life so comfortable. A very special thank you goes out to Sister Louella for providing spiritual comfort to Larry (and Beth).
