Plattsburgh Lt. Col. Clarence M. Frennier (USAF Ret.), 84, of Joyce Court in Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home with his family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Ellenburg Depot on July 2, 1927, the son of the late Merritt and Regina (Domaingue) Frennier. Clarence received his Masters Degree from Plattsburgh State University and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1953. He later served in the USAF Reserves from 1953 to 1987 where he achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was also employed as an Import Specialist for U.S. Customs in Champlain and Rouses Point until his retirement in 1982. Clarence served as a Commander for the Civil Air Patrol and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 125, American Legion Post 20, D.A.V. Chapter 179 and the Full Gospel Mens Fellowship International. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and was active in parish activities. Clarence is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law and grandchildren; Mary Margaret and Philippe and their children, Stephanie and Nicolas Furlan of Ottawa, Ontario, Beth Ann and Steve Morrissey of Greeneville, TN., a brother and sister in law; Arthur and Winnie Frennier of Plattsburgh, a sister Margaret Matton of Plattsburgh, four God children; Ronnie Frennier, Judy Ryan, Janet Trombley and Linda Hamlin, several nieces and nephews and a special cousin Frank Frennier whom Clarence thought of as a son. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes Ann (LaFontaine) Frennier in 2000, a brother John Frennier, and a sister Evelyn McNeil. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg at 2:00 pm Tuesday. Memorial donations may be offered to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or R5 at CVPH Medical Center or Hospice of the North Country.
