Margaret E. Mahoney

Margaret “Peggy” Ellen Mahoney, 78, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. She was born on July 30, 1947, in Towanda, PA, the daughter of Francis Joseph Mahoney and Rita Anne Burchill.Peggy lived in Colorado for 40 years and moved to New York later in life. One of her favorite locations was Estes Park and the surrounding Rocky Mountain landscapes. She felt most at peace in nature and had a lifelong love for animals, birds, and quiet walks. She was a creative and curious soul who enjoyed cooking, knitting, music, and working on puzzles. She always had a book nearby and a project in progress. She deeply valued learning and gave generously to organizations that supported wildlife, conservation and causes she believed in.She is survived by her children Michael Mahoney, Brian Zamarron, and Diana Zamarron; grandchildren Michael Mahoney and Levi Zamarron; great grandson Thomas Mahoney; sisters Frances Jo Sick and Marianne Lisi.She is predeceased by her brother Michael Thomas Mahoney and grandchild Matthew Mahoney.
