Plattsburgh Margaret "Peg" Mannix (72) passed away on Friday, March 26, 2016 at her home. Peg was born on November 2, 1943 in Albany, Georgia the first of six children born to "Rex"ford and Kathleen McKay Touse. She graduated from VVS Central School in June of 1961 and entered SUNY Plattsburgh that Fall. Finances, or the lack thereof, necessitated that Peg leave school, but she remained in Plattsburgh, a place she came to love and call home. She later returned to SUNY to graduate in May 1988. During that time she wrote a term paper in which she proposed that one could successfully operate a quality "non fast food" restaurant in which people would not eat. Instead they would order their food, stop by at the time they indicated and take it home. Several years after graduating, "Peg's Pantry" opened to the delight of many, especially her best customer, Bill. Peg was predeceased by her parents Rex and Kathy Touse and her brother, Dan Touse . Also predeceasing were brothers-in-law Michael Mannix, William Davies & Raymond Sames. Peg was the loving and devoted mother of daughters, Terri (NYC & Ravena, NY) and Kathi, wife of Mark Heit (Kansas City, MO.), and a son, Dan, (Plattsburgh, NY.), husband of Mika Mannix. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Katelynn Castelluccci Mannix, Brady, Michael and Paxton Mannix, Stephen and Marti Lynn Heit. She is survived by four sisters, Maryann & Tom Parker (Ridgway, PA), Maureen & Chuck Lewis (Oneida, NY), Kathleen & Jim Bernet, (Sherill, NY) and, Kathleen's twin sister, Francine (somewhere in CA) and her nephew, Brian Touse (Glens Falls, NY), plus more nephews and nieces than space allows. Peg is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom & Ric Mannix (Sonora, CA), Patricia Davies, (Red Bluff, CA), Tim & Cathy Mannix, (Cary, NC), her former husband, Martin Mannix, (Morrrisonville, NY), Judith Mannix , widow of Michael, (Plattsburgh, NY), Katie & Stephen Gluck, MD, (Plattsburgh, NY), Molly & Marlin Gerber, (Austin, TX). Peg's greatest love was watching her grandchildren grow. Her other great loves were birds, nature and cooking. Cooking was her way of showing her love to others. Her holiday potatoes and chocolate chip cookies were family favorites.
