Mrs. Marilyn M. Atwood, 79, of McDonough St., Plattsburgh passed away at the CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on August 15, 1938 the daughter of Martin and Gladys (Dubuque) Curtis. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1957. She married the love of her life, Earl T. Atwood, at Our Lady of Victory Church in 1958. Together they raised their six children, where she excelled as a mother. Marilyn was employed by the Plattsburgh City School District in the library at Duken and Momot Elementary Schools. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, reading, quilting, sewing, knitting, bowling, camping, shopping and doing household projects. Marilyn volunteered at the food shelf and she was a member of St. John's Church. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, her husband Earl T. Atwood, a grandson Matthew Mallet and her sisters Donna Spooner and Jane Kemp. She is survived by her children, Brenda Mallet of Plattsburgh, Michelle "Shelly" Breen and her husband Col. Joseph Breen, USAF retired of Orlando, FL, JoAnn Votraw of Plattsburgh, Bryan Atwood and his fiancé Judy House of Plattsburgh, Wendy Neyland and her husband Kenneth of Plattsburgh, Lisa Atwood and her fiancé Renato Guanga of Plattsburgh, a brother Robert Curtis and his wife Dawn of Camdem, Arkansas, seven grandchildren; Jillian Devins, Daniel Breen, Katie Breen, Mario Neyland, Ethan Votraw, Mitchell Guanga, Seth Atwood, two great grandchildren Madeline Devins, Abigail Breen, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Church, Plattsburgh. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, West Plattsburgh. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the Food Shelf at the Methodist Church or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
