Mary H. Lafountain

Mary H Lafountain, 76, of Champlain NY passed away comfortably at CVPH Medical Center on Saturday, December 27th.

She is predeceased by her parents, William and Hilda Wrye; and great love of her life, husband of 32 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Lafountain. She is survived by her loving daughter, Tracey Adams; son, Rusty Lafountain; grandchildren, Melany and Sara (with her spouse, Jade) Adams; great grandchild, Eva Adams; five brothers, John and Mort Kellas, and Billy, Jeff and Cliff Wrye; and many nieces and nephews.

At home, she was known as “Mern” by her husband, “Beemie” by her grandchildren, or simply as Mom. Whichever title she wore, Mary would give anything in support of her family, for which she was the beloved matriarch. She spent her final years quietly, surrounded by close loved ones and pets. An avid bird watcher, Mary spent her days marveling at the nature outside her window, beloved cats Arya and Cora, by her side.

Mary is remembered by the community as a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she attended mass and from which she graduated high school as the valedictorian of her class. She worked as the bookkeeper at the local supermarket for forty-seven years, where she was known for her sharp wit and capable hand.

The family will gather in a small private service at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Following the service, she will be interred with her husband at the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
