Melissa E. Deems - Keeseville It is rare to meet someone with a truly compassionate spirit, an unconditional love for others, and a sense of perseverance no matter what happens in life. Melissa Deems had all of these. Family meant everything to her. Whether you were related by blood, marriage, or friendship, you were loved. She was a gentle soul with a heart of gold, and we were truly blessed to have her in our lives. Melissa Ellen Brohinsky was born in Manhattan, NY, on November 18, 1951 to loving parents, Harold and Bonnie Brohinsky. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1970. She worked for many years at the Hotel Ashtabula (Ohio) in the restaurant service industry. She loved to play Bingo, cards, and board games with such a quietly competitive nature, you enjoyed her company without realizing that you had lost to her so severely! She was a true animal lover and felt blessed to have the company of her favorite feline, Imriel, for the past 10 years. Melissa is survived by her children & grandchildren, Tabatha & James Finnegan and Averie of Keeseville, NY, Julianna & Austin Dormann and Asher & Kota of Saranac, NY; aunt, Hannah Bonilla of Woodstock, NY; sister, Amy (George) Hubert of Worcester, MA; brother, William (Debbie) Brohinsky of Hanover, CT; and sister-in-law, Stephanie Freeman of La Jolla, CA; cousin, Natasha (Ralph) Carrasquillo of Cortland, NY; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Havard Deems of Ashtabula, OH, and her brother, James Brohinsky of La Jolla, CA. There will be no calling hours. Donations in Melissa's memory may be made to the Elmore SPCA in Peru, NY. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be announced and take place in late May 2016 when the flowers bloom and new life begins, which always made Melissa smile.
