Michael E. Guzzo

With great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, and friend, Michael Edward Guzzo. His passing on February 4, 2025, at the age of 79, happened peacefully at his home, with his wife Deborah, at his side. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY to Salvatore and Rose Guzzo (Giacalone). As a teenager, his family moved to Long Island, NY, where he graduated from Valley Stream North High School. An artist, he was accepted into the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he completed some college before being drafted into the United States Army. Michael served in Vietnam in 1967-1968. Upon his return to the U.S., he married Deborah Zalenski on June 30, 1968. The two moved upstate to the North Country where Michael designed and built their beautiful home in Saranac, NY. Michael was an artist, a guitar enthusiast, a cooking aficionado and enjoyer of ethnic foods. Michael was also an admirer of the beauty of nature. A contemplative soul, he spent many days watching the birds, planting trees, and maintaining his beautiful flower beds with his wife. He also loved being near, and in, the ocean. Countless days were spent body-surfing in the Atlantic and Caribbean waters. He adored snorkeling, and being able to view aquatic life within the waters of the sea. Michael could find beauty in simple things, and was a friend to many. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Deborah, who he loved deeply; his daughter, Susan (Nystoriak) and her husband Mike, and his grandchildren, Michael A. and Charlie. Michael also leaves behind his sister Margaret (Kauder), and several nieces and nephews. The Guzzo family wishes to thank their wonderful friends for their support during this time.
