Michael R Kemp

Michael R. Kemp, 71, of Adams Drive, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Lancing, MI on September 22, 1949 the son of Robert and Charlotte (Powers) Kemp.
Michael graduated from Eastern High School in Lancing Michigan in 1967 and soon after joined the United States Air Force. While stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base he met the love of his life Linda LaMora. They were married at St. Peter’s Church on March 22, 1969. Michael and Linda left Plattsburgh for one year while he was stationed in Guam. Upon returning to Plattsburgh he was honorably discharged in 1971. Michael worked for the City of Plattsburgh as a Treatment Plant Operator for 33 years before retiring in 2004. He continued to work construction for Pecore Construction until the fall of 2020 when he became ill. Michael enjoyed clamping adventures with his nieces and nephews and making memories. He also enjoyed his annual hunting trips with brothers and nephews, ice fishing and family cookouts. He was also a 40 plus year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 255.
Michael predeceased by his father and two sisters; Bonnie and Cathy Kemp.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda, his mother Charlotte, his siblings; Sue (Victor) Colon, Brenda (Jorge) Colon, Bob (Cindy) Kemp, Randy (Cheryl) Kemp and Ron Kemp, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Lowell and Beverly LaMora, Ken and Kienna LaMora and Karl and Beverly Costin, his nieces and nephews who were like his children; Lauren LaMora, Bud and Ronda LaMora, Dennis and Karra Poupore, Karl (Colleen) Costin, Kayleb and Kolin Costin, Kevin and Hope Costin, Kassie (Becca) Costin, Keyden and Olivia Costin, Kordell Costin, Keith and Diane Costin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh, interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers donations Michael’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
